Vegetarian falafel gyros recipe

Description

Falafel gyros combine the softness of pita bread, spicy sauce, crunchiness of falafels, fresh veggies, and creaminess of the Tzatziki and Tahini sauces. A complete meal that is tasty and filling. 

Ingredients
  • 4 Greek pita bread
  • 4 tbsp Tzatziki sauce (See link for recipe in the first section)
  • 4 tsp Tahini Sauce (See link for recipe in the first section)
  • 8 Falafels (MuSee link for recipe in the first sectionst be fresh, warm and crispy)
  • 4 tsp Hot sauce (I used Sriracha sauce but you can use any other variety also)
  • 8 Romaine lettuce leaves (cleaned and dried)
  • 1 Medium size Red onion – Chopped into thin strips of 2 inch long
  • 2 Roma Tomatoes – Deseeded, cut into thin strips of 1 inch long
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
Instructions

    Falafel Gyro
    1. Warm a pita bread on medium heat for about 1 minute on each side.
    2. Lay the warm pita bread flat (the inner side facing up) and coat it with a thin layer of Tzatziki sauce (3/4th  TBSP) and Tahini sauce  (1 TSP)
    3. Add a few drops of hot sauce and spread it evenly
    4. Spread 1/4th amount of the romaine lettuce leaves on just half  side of the pita bread
    5. Spread ¼ amount of the chopped onions and tomatoes
    6. Add about 1/4th TBsp of Tzatziki sauce on the top
    7. Fold the other half of pita over the side with falafels and veggies.

    You can wrap this in aluminum foil or sandwich paper so that it is convenient to eat without spilling the fillings

Notes

Serve fresh with a side of crispy french fries or potato or veggie chips.
